How to Be More Romantic With Your Spouse

Sometimes it can be difficult to show your romantic side, especially as the relationship progresses and the daily routine starts to get in the way. Romance almost always starts off strong in marriages and then can slowly fade, but it is important to always keep a little romance in your relationship.

There are many simple, inexpensive ways to express your love for your partner. So take some of these ideas to help spark the passion and romance in your relationship.

One great way to show your partner your romantic side is by taking your partner out for a little alone time.

- Dressing up and going out to a fancy restaurant is the one thing we all think of when we think of a "romantic date". So look up a nice restaurant you haven't been to yet and splurge on a night out. Remember to make reservations!

- If going out to a fancy restaurant is not in your budget, why not pack your own dinner; complete with roses, champagne, and music and head out to your nearest park or beach?

- If your partner isn't into the outdoors, then keep the romance at home: light some candles and turn down the lights to get that restaurant ambiance in your own home. Cooking together can be fun, but if you want to leave the cooking to someone else you can always just buy something nice to enjoy.

The time and effort you put into making the dinner or picking a location will be sure to impress your spouse. Dinner doesn't always have to be expensive, it just needs to be thoughtful.

Another fail-proof way to be romantic is to find a different way to tell your partner "I love you.

- Maybe you slip a note that says "I love you" in the pocket of the jacket they wear to work or the briefcase/purse they take to work.

- Don't forget, "I love you" can be said without using words. Send your spouse flowers while they are at work. It doesn't have to be Valentine's Day or your anniversary.

- Or, you can send some texts reminding your spouse how much you care while they are away at work.

All these ideas show your partner that you are making an effort to be more romantic and are trying to get closer to them. This will be appreciated.

Don't forget, the most important thing to do when trying to be romantic with your spouse is to know what they like! You should pay special attention to the clues he or she gives out about the different things that she likes or finds pretty or interesting. You can also ask family members or friends.

Consider your partner's interests when planning something romantic, because romance isn't always about dinner and flowers. Romance can be going to a car show because that's what he likes to do or going to a museum because that's what she likes to do.

Remember being romantic is about showing the person that you care for them, understand and appreciate them. Make sure whatever you do that this message comes out loud and clear!

Some people are just born with a rose gripped between their teeth and ready to recite a Shakespeare sonnet. For the rest of us, coming up with romantic ideas requires a bit more... thought.
